Literature Text

1. Defend your Kingdom, even with your life. You may have friends in other Kingdoms, but your loyalty must remain to your Kingdom as one day you may meet them in battle.
2. Do not trespass on another Kingdom’s territory without good cause.
3. A Kingdom’s worth comes from its people. Civilians and children must be protected at all costs.
4. Our ancestors fought for our lives and futures. Give your thanks to them.
5. A child must be at least 14 years of age before becoming a squire, but may become a Page at 7 years.
6. Newly anointed knights must keep a silent vigil for a night and a day.
7. A knight or lord/lady cannot be made Viceroy without mentoring at least one squire.
8. The monarch’s eldest living child will become the next monarch upon death. If no child lives or all refuse, a Viceroy may be appointed by the monarch and a council of elders to serve as King or Queen.
9. After the death or retirement of Viceroy, a new Viceroy must be chosen before the month’s end.
10. A Gathering of all four Kingdoms is held at each solstice, and shall last for a week. In that time, a Sterra-blessed truce must last, and no fighting can be carried out.
11. Kingdom lands must be protected, and any unlawful trespassers challenged.
12. No knight can neglect a child in danger, even if the child is from another land.
13. The word of the Monarch is law.
14. An honourable knight does not need to kill another to win a battle, unless absolutely necessary.
15. A knight accepts their perilous life, and stays a knight until death.

16. A Royal Physician must step down from their post if they have children and may never return to being one.

17. Children under the age of 7 years may not leave the Kingdom boundaries unaccompanied.

18. The safety of the Kingdom is more important than the safety of one.

19. All Kingdoms shall allow a medic, child or a member of the Order of the Star safe passage.

20. Physicians are barred from fighting unless it is absolutely necessary and/or for protection of oneself or others.

Obviously, there are more unspoken (and nasty) rules some follow, and this is just a very rough version that every knight, noble etc must know.
Not even touching down on proper laws about everything. Just the rough stuff.
Some of them are really old, some old and unwritten (like 'Only pure-blooded Nordes can become Nordunor knights') that not everybody agrees on.
Some change with every new monarch.
They're basically the same in every kingdom.
