Thistleclaw/Snowfur is the saddest pairing out there, I think.

I mean - they finally got together
they even had a kid
and then she just died
and she was the only one he opened up to, the only one who he could show kindness to without feeling weak, the only one who was truly there for him
and then she was gone
and he had no one left except his son
and then his son was taken away from him by Bluestar
he put his heart and hatred into his apprentice
fought battles for the glory of his clan so that no-one would ever die on him again
and then that's it
he died

and he thought that he'd finally be able to see Snowfur again
and they'd be happy
but then they chased him out
and into the Dark Forest
and he never saw his son or his mate again
